Fermion is an online physics school built around an AI tutor that remembers how you learn. It combines a long-term learner memory, a map of 3,393 physics concepts and a laboratory that works with real open data from LIGO, WMAP, CMS and NASA.

How is it different from a general AI chatbot?

A chatbot starts from zero in every conversation. Fermion keeps a learner model: what you have mastered, what is due for review, which explanations work for you, and every claim it teaches carries an epistemic status - established, contested or speculative.

Anyone moving from school physics towards theoretical physics: high-school students, undergraduates and self-taught adults who want to understand rather than memorise.

When does it launch and what does it cost?

Fermion has not launched yet. Join the notification list and you will get one email at release. Pricing will be a subscription with the AI included, optional study credits for heavy work, or bringing your own local model.

These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your use of the website fermion.academy (the “Site”) and of the Fermion learning application (the “Service”) operated by David Alfyorov (“Fermion”, “we”, “us”). By using the Site or the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.

1. What Fermion is

Fermion is an educational product: an AI tutor for physics, a map of physics concepts and a laboratory that works with publicly available scientific data. The Service is currently in development and is not generally available. The Site presently offers a notification list for the future release.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You may join the notification list if you can form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you are under the age required for consent to data processing where you live, use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. When accounts become available, you are responsible for the credentials you choose and for activity carried out under them, and you must tell us promptly at hello@fermion.academy if you believe your account has been misused.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

use the Service to break the law or to infringe anyone’s rights;
attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its infrastructure or other users’ data;
disrupt the Service, including by automated scraping, load generation or circumvention of usage limits;
resell, sublicense or present the Service as your own product;
submit content you have no right to submit, or content that is unlawful or abusive.

4. AI-generated content and academic honesty

The Service produces explanations, derivations and problem walk-throughs using large language models. These outputs can be wrong. Fermion labels the epistemic status of the physics it teaches and cites its sources where it can, but nothing produced by the Service is a substitute for a textbook, a teacher, a peer-reviewed paper or your own reasoning. You are responsible for verifying anything you rely on, and for complying with the academic-integrity rules of your school or university when you use the Service for coursework.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you write, upload or generate through the Service. You grant us the limited licence needed to operate the Service for you: to store your content, process it to produce answers, and back it up. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train third-party foundation models.

6. Our content

The Site, the Fermion name and logo, the curated physics atlas, the learning taxonomy and the software are protected by copyright and other rights. Fermion is built on the open-source DeepTutor project, which remains under its own licence. Nothing in these Terms transfers our rights to you, and nothing restricts the rights the underlying open-source licences grant you.

7. Payment

The Service is not for sale yet. When paid plans launch, prices, billing periods, renewal and refund rules will be presented before you pay, and those terms will form part of this agreement. Joining the notification list costs nothing and creates no obligation to buy anything.

8. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Site or the Service, and we may modify these Terms. If a change is material we will announce it on this page with a new “last updated” date, and, where we hold your email address for that purpose, by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

9. Disclaimers

The Site and the Service are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of educational content, or uninterrupted operation. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fermion is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for lost profits, or for lost or corrupted data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty euros (€50).

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and unsubscribe from the notification list at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we are required to by law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, without regard to conflict of law rules, and the courts of Lithuania have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence.
